[origin: GB2487045A] A tube docking device 1 includes means 15 for attaching the device directly to a boat, bridge or walkway, or to a mounting bed 21. The device further includes hydraulic rams 22, jaws 4 and a pivotal sling 8 which when deployed by the device will clamp around the unencumbered facia of a cylindrical tube C, which is fixed to a receiving subject, such as an offshore structure or vessel. When the device is attached to a boat, forward propulsion of the sling and the jaws against the cylindrical tube forces a floating shaft 2 back through a hollow body 1 of the device, with the initial energy of the impact being absorbed by two air rams 16. The forward propulsion energy of the device against the cylindrical tube is transferred by energy levers 11 to the jaws 4 which deploy the sling around the cylindrical tube, compressing rubber finals 7 against the tube. The device then holds the boat steady in relation to the cylindrical tube to allow safe transfer of personnel and materials.
