[origin: EP2664393A2] The method involves placing the central component (30) and the lower stamper side component (40) together, such that the pilot holes (31) of the components are arranged in alignment with one another. A setting die (15) of the clinching device (1) is moved in the direction of a recess (4) of the anvil (3), and an area (22) of the die side component (20) is pulled through the pilot holes of the central component and of the stamper side component into the recess until the entrained area is pressed to a stop surface (6) in the recess of the stamper (2) by the setting die.
