[origin: WO2012095019A1] An illumination apparatus comprising at lease one light-emitting diode chip (1), a cooling body (2) provided with a plurality of cooling fins (21), and a housing (3). The light-emitting diode chip (1) is in thermal contact with the cooling body (2). The cooling body is at least partially and laterally enclosed by the housing (3). At least some of the cooling fins (21) are extended towards the housing (3) and end surfaces (210) of the cooling fins facing the housing (3) are partially in contact with the housing (3), and particularly in direct contact therewith.
