[origin: EP2665069A1] The cable (10) has a central reinforcing element extending along the cable, where reinforcing element is encircled by an electrically conductive element (3) extending along the cable. The central reinforcing element is provided with a tubular body comprising a layer (2) of a nonmetallic material. The tubular body comprises a layer (1) of a metallic material. The metallic material is selected from a group comprising steel, steel alloys, aluminum, aluminum alloys, copper and copper alloys. The nonmetallic material is selected from a group comprising fibers, nanofibers, and nanotubes.
