[origin: WO2012098024A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a track-bound vehicle (10) which permits the noise emissions of track-bound vehicles to be limited in a particularly efficient way which avoids unnecessary costs. According to the invention, the method runs here in such a way that an information signal (100) which relates to the noise emissions of the track-bound vehicle (10) is transmitted from a track-side device (200) to the track-bound vehicle (10), a maximum speed which is specific to the track-bound vehicle (10) is determined on the basis of the transmitted information signal (100), at which maximum speed the noise emission of the track-bound vehicle (10) still just complies with a relevant limiting value, and a control signal which is aimed at influencing the speed of the track-bound vehicle (10) is generated by taking into account the determined maximum speed.
