Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2012097840A1] The invention relates to a method for automatically stopping an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, the method comprising: stop conditions as prerequisites for carrying out automatic stops of the internal combustion engine, and stop prevention conditions as prerequisites for preventing automatic stops of the internal combustion engine. An automatic stop of the internal combustion engine takes place when all stop conditions are met and none of the stop prevention conditions is met. According to the invention, one of the stop prevention conditions is an activated danger status (GS), wherein the danger status (GS) is activated when an acute indication (AI) exists. According to the invention, after the acute indication (AI) has ended, the danger status (GS) remains activated until a safety indication (SI) exists such that maneuverability of the motor vehicle by means of the internal combustion engine remaining switched on is maintained at least until the safety indication (SI) is detected.
