Die Erfindung betrifft eine Strangformungsvorrichtung (20) einer Strangmaschine der Tabak verarbeitenden Industrie mit einem Unterformat (2, 102) und einem Oberformat (30, 60, 120) für wenigstens einen Materialstrang (1) der Tabak verarbeitenden Industrie, eine Strangmaschine der Tabak verarbeitenden Industrie, insbesondere Filterstrangmaschine oder Tabakstrangmaschine, ein Unterformat (2, 102) und ein Oberformat (4, 104) einer entsprechenden Strangformungsvorrichtung (20), sowie ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Strangmaschine der Tabak verarbeitenden Industrie. Die erfindungsgemäße Strangformungsvorrichtung (20) zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass das Unterformat (2, 102) wenigstens einen ersten Formatkanal (4, 104) und wenigstens einen zweiten Formatkanal (6, 106) mit unterschiedlichen Durchmessern aufweist, wobei das Unterformat (2, 102) beweglich gelagert ist, so dass der wenigstens eine erste Formatkanal (4, 104) und der wenigstens eine zweite Formatkanal (6, 106) jeweils in eine Flucht mit einer Strangmitte (22) eines Materialstrangs (1) auf einem Förderweg durch das Unterformat (2, 102) bringbar sind.
