[origin: EP2666389A1] The device (510') has an upper section comprising a plate for supporting a mattress. A lower section (520') comprises a fixing unit for fixing the device to the plate. The lower section is connected to the upper section by a suspension unit. A modifying unit modifies stiffness of the device. A movable element (540') is moved with respect to the device between two positions to change the stiffness of the device. The movable element is provided with an elastic body that is configured to deform elastically when a moving element is moved from one of the positions to the other position.
