[origin: WO2012101017A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a vehicle antenna of a track-bound vehicle. The vehicle antenna is directed at the track and is designed for the transmission of data from and/or to a track-side device. According to the invention, the vehicle antenna is switched from a rest state into an operating state prior to the data transmission and switched back from the operating state into the rest state after the data transmission. The invention further relates to a transmission device comprising a vehicle antenna.
