[origin: WO2012101075A1] The invention relates to a method for accessing multimedia content within a home, comprising the following steps, which are carried out in response to the connection (106, 110) of new equipment to a home network or in response to the disconnection of master equipment from the home network: exchanging (112, 114), among various pieces of equipment in the home capable of providing a reference server function, criteria for electing a piece of equipment for providing the reference server function; electing (116, 120), on the basis of the exchanged election criteria, the master equipment from among said pieces of equipment in the home capable of providing a reference server function; and the elected master equipment implementing (128) the reference server function.
