[origin: WO2012104090A1] A method for producing in a simple manner a pallet-free packaging unit (24) comprising a plurality of packaging items (4) stacked to form a stack of goods (2), in which the packaging items (4) are stacked in such a manner that at least two engagement regions (10) for fork legs of a shovel loader are formed in at least one stacking plane, in which, first of all, a holding layer (12) is placed onto the stack of goods (2) in a manner covering the engagement regions (10) and packaging items (4) provided adjacent thereto, then the stack of goods (2) is wrapped with a first film (14) with the interposition of the holding layer (12), wherein the circumference of said film is preferably initially smaller than the circumference of the stack of goods (2) and, before wrapping around the stack of goods (2), is expanded to a circumference greater than the circumference of the stack of goods (2) and is applied to the stack of goods (2) with elastic circumferential tension, and the stack of goods (16) which is wrapped on one side is turned such that that part of the stack of goods (16) which has the engagement regions (10) comes downwards. According to the method according to the invention, the packaging unit is finished without use being made of a second film pulled, after the turning, over the circumference of the stack of goods (2) as a tubular hood. The present invention furthermore relates to a corresponding packaging unit.
