[origin: WO2012104000A1] The invention relates to a fuel injector (10), having a low-pressure area (40) which is formed in an injector housing (11) and in which an actuator (44), in particular a piezo actuator, interacts with a first hydraulic coupler having a master piston (47), to which a nozzle needle (22) is coupled at least indirectly, wherein the master piston (47) causes the nozzle needle (22) to lift off a seal seat (23) when the actuator (44) is energized and the nozzle needle (22) is arranged in a high-pressure chamber (18) of the injector housing (11). According to the invention, a second hydraulic coupler having at least one coupler piston (57, 63) is provided, which generates a closing force on the nozzle needle (22) when the actuator (44) is discharged.
