[origin: WO2012107412A2] The present invention relates to a cathode assembly for an aluminum electrolytic cell, comprising at least one cathode block on the basis of carbon and/or graphite, which has a groove that is lined at least in some sections with a graphite film, wherein at least one busbar is provided in the at least one groove, said busbar having at least in some sections an envelope of cast iron. According to the invention, at least one recess is provided in the wall delimiting the at least one groove, and the envelope of cast iron engages in at least some sections into the at least one recess. The invention further relates to a cathode block for such a cathode assembly and to a method for producing such a cathode assembly for an aluminum electrolytic cell.
