Abstract (en)
The compass (1) has two branches (2, 3) connected to each other with an articulation (4). A tracing unit i.e. graphite pencil (5), and a metal dry point (6) are mounted in a sliding manner in an end of one branch. The dry point is moved on one of the branches of the compass between a release position and a covering position. The dry point is provided as a variable component and is moved and maintained in a safety position. The dry point is moved and maintained in a retracted position, and a protective guard (16) is moved and maintained in a position of covering and protecting the dry point.

La pointe sèche (6) est sécurisée par un cache protecteur (16) monté mobile sur la branche (3) correspondante, entre une position de dégagement de la pointe sèche (6) pour l'utilisation du compas (1) et une position de recouvrement et de protection de cette pointe lorsque le compas (1) n'est pas utilisé. Sur le cache protecteur (16) et sur la branche (2) munie de l'organe de traçage (5) sont prévus des moyens complémentaires, tels qu'au moins une patte (23) et une butée (24), qui coopèrent lors du rapprochement des deux branches (2, 3) pour déplacer et maintenir le cache protecteur (16) dans sa position de recouvrement et de protection de la pointe sèche (6). Dans une variante, la pointe sèche (6) est escamotable et déplacée vers sa position de sécurité lors du rapprochement des deux branches (2, 3). Application : compas à usage scolaire.
