The present invention relates to a closure (19) for a container, comprising, a tab (3) attached by rivet means (4) to a closure part to be removed for forming an opening in the closure, which opening is defined by a score line (8) formed in the closure, and stiffening means (20) extending along the rivet means towards the score line, and to a container provided with such closure.
