[origin: EP2685193A1] The furnace (1) has an outer wall (3) and an inner wall that delimits a furnace chamber (6), a carburizing zone (7) and a subsequent treatment zone (8). The treatment zone has a perlite zone (11) that is provided downstream of a carburizing zone, and in which cooling units (17a,17b) are provided. An input airlock zone (18) is arranged between the carburizing zone and the perlite zone, and in which a pair of movable doors (12,14) is formed and workpiece (2) is received. An independent claim is included for a method for heat treatment of workpiece.
