Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2012123316A1] A pneumatic brake cylinder (2, 4) for brake systems of vehicles, with a brake piston (8, 26) which is arranged in the brake cylinder housing (15) and can be brought into a release or brake application position by ventilating and venting a brake chamber (12, 20), wherein the volume of at least one chamber (14, 31, 36) differing from the brake chamber (12, 20) is reduced or enlarged owing to the application or release of the brake, and a ventilation and venting opening (34) connecting the at least one chamber (14, 31, 36) to the atmosphere is provided. The at least one chamber (14, 31, 36) is connected to the ventilating and venting opening (34) by at least one labyrinth flow duct (38) which is designed in the manner of a labyrinth seal and repeatedly deflects a flow, which can be attributed to the application and/or release of the brake, from the chamber (14, 31, 36) into the atmosphere or from the atmosphere into the chamber (14, 31, 36).
