[origin: EP2690247A2] An automatic passage gate for allowing or preventing people to enter or to exit a specific area, such as a shopping area or a store, is provided. The automatic passage gate comprises a gate arm (110) connected to a drum (120), and a drive unit (150) connected to said drum (120), by means of a coupling (160), for causing a rotational movement of said drum (120), wherein said drive unit (150) and said coupling (160) are arranged within said drum (120).
