[origin: WO2012130835A1] The present invention relates to a hair straightener (1) having at least two arms (2, 2'), which are mounted one on the other and each have a straightening limb (4, 4') and a gripping limb (5, 5'), wherein at least one heating plate (3) is arranged on at least one of the straightening limbs (4, 4'). It is pertinent to the invention here that the two arms (2, 2') are mounted one on the other such that, by virtue of the gripping limbs (5, 5') being pressed together, a force which presses the straightening limbs (4, 4') together is transmitted to said limbs and to hair (9) located between the straightening limbs (4, 4'), and that a setting device (17) is provided, this device making it possible to set and/or limit the force which can be transmitted from the gripping limbs (5, 5') to the straightening limbs (4, 4') and thus to the hair (9).
