The method (700) comprises a step of reading in (710) object data (815a-e) relating to at least two objects (610, 620, 630; 810a-810e), wherein the object data (815a-e) represent information relating to objects (810a-e) which were classified as an object in an image recorded by the camera (110). The method (700) also comprises a step of forming (720) object group data (640a, 640b; 810a/b, 810d/e) from the object data (815a-e) which have been read in and relate to the at least two objects (610, 620, 630; 810a-e), wherein the forming step (720) is carried out using at least two different parameters (P1-P4) provided from image data relating to the image recorded by the camera (110). Finally, the method (700) comprises a step of transmitting (730) the object group data (640a, 640b; 810a/b, 810d/e) as data relating to a current vehicle environment to the headlight control device (150).
