[origin: EP2692513A1] The device (1) has compacting unit (3) having insertion opening (300) to insert a container (G). The propulsion units (4) transport container in insertion direction of container to compacting unit. The compacting unit has ejection opening (312) to eject the compacted container (G'). A funnel extends from insertion opening to ejection opening in insertion direction, and is tapered toward ejection opening. The propulsion units are arranged in circumferential direction around insertion direction around funnel and extend along lateral surface of funnel envelope. An independent claim is included for method for operating compacting device.
