[origin: EP2695741A1] The method involves transporting printed sheets on an auxiliary saddle (1) of a transport system. The auxiliary saddle is operated by a tappet chain (5). The tappet chain is operated with a speed change that depends on a direct sequence of different sheet lengths of the printed sheets. A sheet insertion system (7) is operated by a controller within another stapling saddle (2) and/or effectively connected with a stopper (13) for ensuring individual positioning of sub-format printed sheet (200) relative to standard-format printed sheet (100) within a book block. An independent claim is also included for a thread sewing machine.
