Die Erfindung betrifft eine pyrotechnische Wirkmasse, umfassend einen Brennstoff, ein Oxidationsmittel für den Brennstoff, ein Abbrandbeschleunigungsmittel und optional ein Bindemittel, wobei das Abbrandbeschleunigungsmittel in Form von Partikeln vorliegt, die in der Wirkmasse verteilt sind, wobei das Abbrandbeschleunigungsmittel ein durch Zufuhr von Wärme mindestens um einen Faktor 2 expandierbarer Feststoff ist.
