Abstract (en)
[origin: EP2695994A1] The machine has an actuator connected to an edge protector (5). The actuator includes a floating setting in which the edge protector comprises a floating mounting, so that height of the edge protector is automatically adjusted. A control unit includes a sensor i.e. ultrasonic sensor, to detect a distance between a reference point on the edge protector and the ground surface. The control unit is designed such that the actuator is actuated to raise the edge protector when increased distance is less than predetermined minimum distance. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a self-propelled construction machine.
