[origin: WO2012139608A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a lambda probe (10), wherein in a first operating mode the resistance of a Nernst cell (12) of the lambda probe (10) is measured and the temperature of the lambda probe (10) is determined on the basis of the measured resistance, wherein a heating voltage of a heating device (24) of the lambda probe (10) is set according to the difference between the measured temperature and a set temperature, wherein in a second operating mode the lambda probe (10) is operated at a specified temperature and the resistance of the Nernst cell (12) is measured during the operation at the specified temperature, wherein a correction factor for the determination of the temperature of the lambda probe (10) in the first operating mode is determined from the difference of the measured resistance from a specified set resistance.
