[origin: EP2700886A2] The hot water tank (1) has a storage container (2) which is surrounded by a thermal insulation (4) and a vacuum-insulation-panel (3), where the vacuum-insulation-panel is made from a microporous material, particularly silica. The vacuum-insulation-panel is wrapped, evacuated and sealed in a film, particularly a gas- and water vapor-proof multi-layer composite film. The microporous material is attached to an infrared opacifier and to a lower proportion of organic cellulose fibers. An independent claim is included for a method for thermally insulating a hot water tank.
