Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2012168112A1] The invention relates to a surge arrestor (1) with a dissipating element (20), a control cowl (40), which is electrically connected to the dissipating element (20), and a fluid-tight housing (2), in which the dissipating element (20) and the control cowl (40) are arranged and which has two contacts (7, 8), which each electrically connects the interior to the exterior of the housing (2). By virtue of the fact that the dissipating element (20) and the control cowl (40) are designed so as to be moveable relative to one another, wherein an electrical connection of one of the contacts (7, 8) via the dissipating element (20) to the other of the contacts (8, 7) can be produced or interrupted by virtue of the relative movement, a surge arrestor is provided which enables structurally simpler production or interruption of the electrical connection.
