Abstract (en)
The method involves installing a set of female sockets (30) around male pins (10) of male connector, where one of the sockets is mounted around each male pin of the connector. A locking housing (40) is installed in a header of the connector around the sockets. The housing is force-fitted into the header so as to tighten each female socket around the associated male pin by deforming an inner structure of a rear part (32) of each socket. An interfacial seal (44) is installed between the insert and the housing so as to protect the insert and ensure impermeability of the connector. An independent claim is also included for a connector.

L'invention concerne un connecteur comportant : - une embase (11) munie d'une pluralité de broches (10) formant contacts mâles, - un insert (13) assurant une herméticité des dites broches mâles dans l'embase, - un module d'adaptation femelle (3) apte à être monté dans l'embase (11) pour former un connecteur femelle, ledit module d'adaptation femelle (3) comportant une pluralité de douilles (30) formant contacts femelles, chaque douille femelle étant adaptée pour être montée autour d'une broche mâle (10), et un boitier de verrouillage (40) apte à être emboité autour de la pluralité de douilles (30) pour enserrer chaque douille femelle autour de la broche mâle associée (10). L'invention concerne également un procédé de transformation d'un connecteur mâle (1) en un connecteur femelle, consistant à installer une douille femelle (30) autour de chaque broche mâle puis installer et monter en force le boitier de verrouillage (40) autour des douilles femelles (30).
