[origin: WO2012151237A1] Disclosed herein are pharmaceutically acceptable rapid dissolve vaginal tablet compositions comprising one or more active pharmaceutical ingredients suitable for therapy via topical action or systemic absorption, and methods of making and using such compositions. In some embodiments, this invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising one or more active pharmaceutical ingredients suitable for vaginal route of administration, and methods of making and using such compositions for therapy via topical action or systemic absorption, as well as uterine targeting. In certain embodiments, the present invention is related to a pharmaceutical composition comprising one or more active pharmaceutical ingredients suitable for vaginal route of administration, one or more polymeric excipients having a dual property of acting as a binder as well as a bioadhesive material, one or more sugar alcohols or saccharides, and one or more disintegrants.
