[origin: EP2708340A1] The device has a strainer basket (2) arranged at the external periphery of a chopping drum (1) of the timber chipper. A drive unit (3) is adapted to produce the sliding movement of the strainer basket by a forced guidance device (4). The drive unit is provided with chopping drum rack gears (5) which are spaced apart from the strainer basket. The propelled worm wheel is driven for the sliding movement of the strainer basket by a drive motor (7). The worm wheel is connected with the chopping drum rack gears.
