[origin: WO2012164215A1] The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a hollow body (2) for composite electrical insulators (1) during which process: at least one strip (5, 6, 7) of material is wound helicoidally around a mandrel (4) having a longitudinal axis (X), so as to produce a first helicoidal winding (50, 60, 70), the mandrel (4) used comprising at least one end (42) shaped to allow a hollow body (2) that is "bell" shaped to be produced; said first helicoidal winding (50, 60, 70) is produced so as to form at least one "bell"-shaped hollow body (2); said first helicoidal winding (50, 60, 70) is sectioned so as to form at least two hollow bodies (2), at least one of which is "bell" shaped; and these two hollow bodies (2) are separated axially so as to remove them from said mandrel (4).
