Abstract (en)
[origin: EP2716923A1] It is desired to reduce creeping in a bearing to which large radial loads are applied. If the inner race and the shaft are fitted with a clearance fit, the bearing is designed so as to satisfy the relation: t/w > 0.5, where t is the thickness of the inner race (which is the minimum thickness of the inner race at a contact area between each rolling element and the raceway of the inner race, in the direction perpendicular to the raceway), and w is the circumferential distance between adjacent rolling elements (w = n x SD/Z, where Z is the number of the rolling elements, and SD is the inner diameter of the bearing). If the outer race and the housing are fitted in a clearance fit, the bearing is designed so as to satisfy the relation: t/w > 0.5, where t is the thickness of the outer race (which is the minimum thickness of the inner race at a contact area between each rolling element and the raceway of the outer race, in the direction perpendicular to the raceway), and w is the circumferential distance between adjacent rolling elements (w = n x LD/Z, where Z is the number of the rolling elements, and LD is the inner diameter of the bearing).
