[origin: WO2012168170A1] The invention relates to a vehicle camera system for providing a continuous image of the vehicle surroundings by means of at least one camera which is designed to produce images of the vehicle surroundings. The claimed vehicle camera system comprises at least one local image processing unit, which is associated with the at least one camera and designed to carry out a non-linear transformation of at least one image of the vehicle surroundings, captured by the camera, in at least one partial image which corresponds to a predefined image section of image of the vehicle surroundings. Said claimed vehicle camera system also comprises a central image processing unit which is designed to take over the partial image generated by the at least one local image processing unit by means of the non-linear transformation and to insert it into an image of the vehicle surroundings for producing a continuous overall image of at least one area.
