Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2012171770A1] The invention relates to a fuel injector (10) for internal combustion engines, having a nozzle needle (100; 100a; 100b) which is arranged in an axially displaceable manner in a housing (11) and which has two guide regions (35; 35b; 36; 36b) axially spaced apart from one another, wherein passages for highly pressurized fuel from a fuel inflow region (32) in the direction of spray openings (15) in the housing (11) are formed by flattened portions (37; 37a; 37b, 38; 38a; 38b)in the region of the guide regions (35, 35b; 36, 36b), and wherein, between the guide regions (35; 35b, 36; 36b), the nozzle needle (100; 100a; 100b) has a region (39; 39a) with reduced cross-sectional area in relation to the guide regions (35; 35b, 36; 36b). It is provided according to the invention that, as viewed in the longitudinal direction of (100; 100a; 100b), the region (39; 39a) between the two guide regions (35; 35b, 36; 36b) is formed continuously with the reduced cross-sectional area at at least one point.
