Electrical contact element comprises a connecting section, which is made of a copper sheet and has a coating containing tin and zinc. An independent claim is also included for producing an electric contact element having a coating, comprising providing a base body, optional fire tinned, copper sheet, applying a first layer containing tin, on the base body and applying a second layer containing zinc, on the side of the first layer facing away from the base body.
