[origin: WO2013000576A1] The invention relates to a device for controlling the movement of a furniture part that is received on a furniture body in a movable manner, said furniture part being movable relative to the furniture body via a drive unit. The device comprises a control unit which controls the drive unit, and a sensor device is provided which monitors a monitored region on the movable furniture part and which provides data on the basis of the monitoring process, said data being available to the control unit in order to control the movement of the movable furniture part. The movable furniture part can be moved in a driven manner dependent on an operating movement of a person who is temporarily present in the monitored region, said movement being assigned to the furniture part and being detected in the monitored region by the sensor device. According to the invention, the sensor device is designed to monitor a region in front of a front portion of the furniture part from a mounted position of the sensor device, said position being separated from the furniture body and the furniture part received on said furniture body by an open space.
