[origin: WO2013000588A1] The invention relates to a printing plate and a method for producing a printing plate. First, a first of two opposite main surfaces of a metal web or a metal sheet is defined as a working surface, and a second of the two main surfaces is defined as a bearing surface. A coating is applied onto the working surface, and at least one printing plate is then separated from the metal web or from the metal sheet. During said separation process and/or during at least one additional separation process, at least one printing plate lateral surface that adjoins both the first and the second of the two main surfaces is produced, said lateral surface having at least one ridge that projects past the first main surface in a first direction of a surface normal of the first main surface. After the at least one separation process, the at least one ridge is shaped in at least one shaping step such that said ridge projects less far than before the at least one shaping step and/or no farther past the first main surface.
