[origin: WO2013007438A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a laser spark plug (100), according to which the laser spark plug (100) is activated by an activation device (210) to produce at least one laser ignition pulse (L). The invention is characterized in that at least one value characteristic of the laser ignition pulse (L) is measured and that the at least one value characteristic of the laser ignition pulse (L) is indicative of a working condition of the laser spark plug (100).
