[origin: WO2013007625A1] The invention relates to a method for evaluating the "efficiency of a feed ration" of a dairy ruminant, said "efficiency" being defined as the ratio between "excretion", i.e. all of the components of interest in the milk produced per day, expressed as weight, and "ingestion", i.e. all of the organic and mineral components of the ration ingested per day, expressed as weight. The method is characterised in that it comprises the following steps consisting in: a) taking a milk sample, analysing the sample and, for said sample, defining at least one of the following indicators, namely b1) "milk efficiency indicator EL", b2) "protein efficiency indicator EP", b3) "rumination indicator IRU", b4) "ration health indicator IS"; and c) calculating the "efficiency of the feed ration ERA" according to the following relationship: ERA = (w*EL + x*EP + y*IRU + z*IS) + t. The invention also relates to the corresponding device.
