[origin: EP2733688A1] The device (9) has a wireless unit for transmitting useful information to and/or for receiving useful information from a motor vehicle (11), which is provided in a wireless reception range of an emergency telephone (1). The device is installed in or attached at the telephone. The telephone is installed in a road, designed for receiving emergency calls, and connected with an emergency center (3) via a communications network (2) for transmission to the center. The telephone is connected with a control unit (8) via the network. A sensor unit measures environmental information e.g. temperature. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle communication unit (2) a method for transferring information useful for road traffic in a spatial area.
