[origin: WO2013017420A1] The invention relates to a method for separating upright pipes (1) of larger length and larger diameter having the lower ends thereof anchored in the ground, in particular anchoring pipes (2a) of an offshore oil drilling or delivery platform (100), in which a cutting assembly (3) is lowered into the pipe (1) through the upper end of the pipe to be separated (1) up to a separation zone (4), and progressively acts against the pipe (1) over the circumference and the separation process occurs by means of a water jet (15) emitting from at least one water jet nozzle (5), wherein the pipe wall (6) is severed by a cut (7) having an at least approximately constant cutting width (B), which runs skewed through the pipe wall (6), to create two complementarily conical cut surfaces (7c, 7d), wherein the water jet (15) of the at least one water jet nozzle is aligned at an angle (a) to the plane (E) running perpendicular to the pipe axis (A) to effect the skewed cut (7).
