[origin: EP2741571A1] The device (12) has cooking zones (22, 24, 26, 28) defined by a heating element, and electrodes (32, 34, 36, 38) whose capacitance is changed based on dish occupancy of the cooking zones. A touch-sensitive operating unit (40) evaluates electrode properties of the electrodes in an operating mode. The electrodes are formed as a cooktop plate coating. Conducting connections (33, 35, 37, 39) between the electrodes and the operating unit are electrically shielded, where the electrodes and the connections are pressed on a lower side of a cooktop plate (14). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for operating a cooktop device (2) a method for manufacturing a cooktop device.
