[origin: WO2013020766A1] The invention relate to a method for operating an ultrasound unit (1) having at least one ultrasound generator (2) and at least one ultrasonic vibrator (3), which ultrasonic vibrator (3) is excited to vibration by the ultrasound generator (2), wherein an electric current flows and wherein the ultrasonic vibrator consumes an electric power and emits at least some of it in the form of mechanical output towards a preferably liquid medium (4), which is characterised in that the current and the power in the ultrasound generator (2) are controlled separately by means of at least two separate control circuits (7, 8), so that a power-dependent current limitation is produced. The invention also relates to a control unit for an ultrasound generator for carrying out the method and to an ultrasound unit comprising such a control unit.
