[origin: WO2013020630A1] An electric cable (10) is provided with a conductor (12), at least one insulating layer (13) surrounding said conductor and an outer sheath (16). In addition, at least one intumescent layer (15) is arranged which surrounds the conductor (12) over the entire cable length and is integrated in the cable (10) in such a way that it foams up on heating and provides heat protection for this cable. This intumescent layer (15) substantially comprises a polymer substrate and expanding graphite.
