The domestic appliance has a body (4), a door (3) and an actuating element, which is moved from an outer side of the door in a direction towards the body by applying the compressive force (36). A sensor device is provided to generate a position signal for indicating the position of the actuating element relative to the body in the direction, which is compensated with respect to a position of the actuating element relative to the body in another direction perpendicular to the former direction.

Die vorliegende Erfindung schafft ein Haushaltsgerät (1), insbesondere Geschirrspülmaschine, mit einem Korpus (4), einer Tür (3), einem Betätigungselement (12), welches mittels Aufbringens einer Druckkraft (36) von außen auf die Tür (3) in einer ersten Richtung (y) zum Korpus (4) hin bewegbar ist, und einer Sensoreinrichtung (35), welche dazu eingerichtet ist, ein Positionssignal zur Angabe einer Position des Betätigungselements (12) relativ zum Korpus (4) in der ersten Richtung (y) zu erzeugen, welches bezüglich einer Position des Betätigungselements (12) relativ zum Korpus (4) in zumindest einer zweiten Richtung (z) senkrecht zur ersten Richtung (y) kompensiert ist.
