[origin: WO2013026534A1] The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (11). In the method, a plurality of angular accelerations of a crankshaft (13) of the internal combustion engine (11) are sensed in a plurality of working cycles of the cylinder (12) and a mean value of the angular accelerations is determined on the basis of the plurality of angular accelerations of the cylinder (12) for at least one cylinder (12) of the internal combustion engine (11). The internal combustion engine (11) is controlled on the basis of the plurality of angular accelerations and the mean value.
