[origin: EP2749499A1] The packaging machine has a protective device (5), a protective cover (6) and a frame (11), where the frame has a shaft (15) with two rollers (17). The protective cover has multiple guides (16), which cooperate with rollers, such that the protective cover raising to the shaft is tiltable and slidable. The shaft is rotatably mounted on the frame, where the two rollers are synchronized to each other using the shaft. The rollers have a bearing surface with a friction. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a packaging machine.
