Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2497528A] Peripherals 18 (timer), 20 (DAC), 22 (UART), 24 (encryption engine), 26 (voltage comparator) are connected to processor 6 and programmable peripheral interconnect (PPI) 10. One peripheral signals an event to PPI, and one( task receiving) peripheral responds to a task signal from PPI by performing a task. Task-receiving peripheral has a task register, addressable by processor 6, and performs the task in response to a change in contents of task register. Interconnect 10 accesses memory 14 storing mapping between events of first peripheral and tasks of second peripheral, the mapping comprising: event identification; address of task register. The mapping causes interconnect 10 to provide a channel by sending a task signal to second peripheral in response to event signal from first peripheral. Power saving is provided by allowing processor 6 to remain in sleep state while peripherals communicate directly. By using register addresses of task-receiving peripheral, channels are established easily.
