[origin: EP2756776A1] The appliance (1) has a portable treatment unit (2) provided with gripping unit formed by distal portions (5a, 5b) and a heat and steam treatment system formed by heating surfaces (8, 9) and vaporization chamber (11) for heating hair and applying steam to the hair. A base (3) is remote from the unit, and a connection unit (4) between the base and the treatment unit is configured for supplying the treatment unit with electricity from the base. A master circuit board (21) is arranged in the base, and a communication system is provided between the board and the treatment system.
