The shredder has a top-mounted cutting unit (1) that comprises an electric motor driven cutting roller pair (6) which is located between a receiving slot (4) and an outlet opening (5) of a housing (2). A thickness sensor (7) is arranged for a material to be crushed between the cutting unit and a catchment area (19) of the roller pair. The sensor is projected into the slot. A gap (9) is formed between the active portions (10,101) and the passive portions (11,111) of the sensor and remains constant in a possible pivoting movement (13) of the active and/or passive portions.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Shredder / Aktenvernichter für blattförmiges Material, wie z.B. Papier und dergleichen Material oder ähnlichen Datenträgern mit einem Dicken-Sensor, der zumindest zum Teil in einen Aufnahmeschlitz hineinragt. Erfindungsgemäß verändert der Dicken-Sensor nicht seine Lage wenn zu viel zu zerkleinerndes Gut (beispielsweise Papier) in den Aufnahmeschlitz gelangt, sondern verschwenkt durch die Reibung mit dem Gut um seine Rotationsachse. Durch die Schwenkbewegung wird ein Schalter betätigt, wodurch der elektrische Antrieb des Shredders unterbrochen wird.
